Local Directions

Chesterwood is located two miles west of Stockbridge on the lovely rural Williamsville Road. From the center of picturesque Stockbridge, travel west on Route 102, turn left (south) onto Route 183. One mile from this intersection (alternately, three-tenths of a mile past the Norman Rockwell Museum) turn right onto Mohawk Lake Road and then left onto Willow Street, which becomes Williamsville Road, a dirt road. Turn right at the entrance to Chesterwood and step back in time to the magical home of Daniel Chester French.

From Albany, New York: Take the New York State Thruway. Exit at B/3 Berkshire Extension (Route 22 North). Route 22 intersects almost immediately with Route 102. Take Route 102 East about 7 miles to Route 183. Turn right (south) onto Route 183. Travel 1 mile and make a right onto Mohawk Lake Road. Take the first left onto Willow Street, which becomes Williamsville Road, a dirt road. Chesterwood is 1/2 mile on the right.

From New York, New York: Take the Henry Hudson Parkway to the Saw Mill River Parkway to the Taconic State Parkway to the end. Take the New York State Thruway. Exit at B/3 Berkshire Extension (Route 22 North). Route 22 intersects almost immediately with Route 102. Take Route 102 East about 7 miles to Route 183. Turn right (south) onto Route 183. Travel 1 mile and make a right onto Mohawk Lake Road. Take the first left onto Willow Street, which becomes Williamsville Road, a dirt road. Chesterwood is 1/2 mile on the right.

From Boston and points East: Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (Route 90) to Exit 2, towards Lee/Pittsfield. Turn left onto Route 20 East. Bear right onto Route 102 West towards Stockbridge. Continue on Route 102 through the center of Stockbridge to Route 183. Turn left onto Route 183 South. Travel 1 mile and make a right onto Mohawk Lake Road. Take the first left onto Willow Street, which becomes Williamsville Road, a dirt road. Chesterwood is 1/2 mile on the right.
