Artscape is a public art program bringing outdoor sculpture to the urban landscape. Sponsored by the City of Pittsfield, Artscape's mission is to enhance the downtown's character and attract visitors by installing and promoting works of art and historic symbols in various locations accessible to the public throughout the downtown area.
In 2004, Artscape worked with cultural organizations, committees, and over 40 volunteers and artists in creating the most successful public art project in the history of the city: "Sheeptacular Pittsfield!"
In 2006, the City of Pittsfield will be presenting "Art of the Game", a two year public art and baseball project, which will celebrate the rich "first" baseball heritage of the area through exhibits, outdoor sculpture and the launch of a permanent "First Home Plate" memorial.
